Why you should always use a GivEnergy approved installer to fit your system
Thinking of having a GivEnergy system installed?
Be sure to use a GivEnergy approved installer for the job.
With GivEnergy, you’ve got an extensive network of approved installers up and down the UK. These installers range from self-employed electricians, through to large energy / renewables companies who have completed our training.
So, whether you want to work with a local sparky or a nationally known name, we’ve got approved installers to sort out your project. Let’s take a closer look at why that ‘approved’ status is so important.
First, what is a GivEnergy approved installer?
An approved installer is simply an electrician who has:
✅ Completed our free GivEnergy product training
✅ Provided proof of their electrical certifications and business details
So, they’ve been checked, they’ve been all clued up on the kit, and they can ensure an efficient and reliable installation for y

What happens if you pick a non-approved installer?
A non-approved electrician could go ahead and buy a GivEnergy system and wire everything up. After all, our systems are designed to be plug-and-play, and they’re readily available from all major wholesalers.
However, this kind of install really wouldn’t be the best move for anyone.
Let’s say you engage an electrician who hasn’t completed our approved installer training, and they go out and buy the kit anyway. They come to your home and start installing the system physically.
Even if the electrician is a diligent worker who follows our install manuals down to the letter, they still wouldn’t be able to commission your system fully. This is because they won’t have a GivEnergy Engineer account. For context, that’s an account generated only for our approved installers after they complete their training, that then allows them portal access to their fitted GivEnergy systems.
Importantly, without this Engineer account, the installer won’t be able to:
- Assign the Wi-Fi to the inverter
- Commission the system
- Even create your end user account
This would make it super awkward for both you and the installer, and definitely isn’t the best experience for either party. For example:
- You won’t have full functionality as the system won’t be configured properly . You’ll have no portal access, no WiFi, and any and all call outs would be chargeable.
- Your installer won’t have an account to commission, creating all the above issues for them.
- When your installer inevitably contacts GivEnergy tech support, they’d be advised to shut down the system until training has been sat as the team wouldn’t be able to support them.
- Ultimately, your warranty is invalidated. To protect all parties and ensure the best experience, it’s a requirement that all of our battery storage systems are fitted by a GivEnergy approved installer. Non-compliance results in a default to a 12-month warranty, instead of the full 12 years we offer as standard. And that’s without your full functionality!
Does this rule apply to all GivEnergy products?
Only a GivEnergy approved installer can fit our battery storage systems. Our EV chargers are a little different, as they’re an accessory product.
So, any electrician can fit a GivEnergy EV charger – whether or not they’ve done our approved installer training. That’s because it’s essentially a plug-and-play accessory that can be easily set up through our customer app – no need for an Engineer Account to configure a charger.
The problem would arise, though, if the electrician was looking to install our EV charger as part of the broader GivEnergy ecosystem. (E.g., alongside our batteries and inverters so it all plays nicely together.) There, they’d run into all the stumbling blocks mentioned above.
